Remove most specialty deck coatings from fiberglass, glass, laminate, metal, flooring, natural stone, tile, concrete, brick, wood, factory finished paints or heat treated coatings, and plastic (may etch some plastics always test a small area first):
- Avoid direct sunlight during application
- Apply EZ Strip Deck Coating Remover to a small area first to test best set time for removal
- Wait time dependent on layers, type, and age of coating approx. 1 – 12 hours test a small area first for best set time
- Cover area with plastic to keep product wet/working and increase coating penetration. Product will stop working if it dries out
- Carefully scrape the softened coating once ready away with a blade scraper. Tip: For wood applications always scrape with the wood grain
- Scrub with a stiff bristle brush and wipe the surface clean with warm water or pressure wash clean
- If the product gets on surrounding plants, rinse the area well with water. Protect sensitive plants from exposure.
Warning: Before starting any exterior coating stripping project that may contain lead or asbestos please be sure to test it first. Test kits are inexpensive and available at your local hardware store or online.
If your test is positive for lead or asbestos, EZ Strip strongly recommends that you contact a qualified, licensed restoration or renovation contractor in your area for advice and a quote. Licensed contractors will have the training, employees, safety equipment and disposal facilities available to handle the project.
Paint Disposal: EZ Strip encapsulates paint being removed and is safe to be disposed of in your household garbage. However, if you suspect there could be lead in the paint you want to remove, test it first. Lead based paint must be disposed of in accordance with the laws of your area of residence.
